With the Championship season just around the corner, Sheffield Wednesday are said to be working on bringing in an attacking player, potentially finalizing the deal before the season starts.
The Owls will kick off their season against Plymouth Argyle on Sunday, which could be an important early clash. Danny Rohl will be looking for his team to move past last season’s relegation worries, especially after bringing in up to nine new players this summer. Notable additions include Max Lowe, Jamal Lowe, Yan Valery, and Nathaniel Chalobah, all of whom have previous Premier League experience.
Sheffield Wednesday will look to make an impact this season with the help of their former Premier League signings, guided by the skilled manager, Danny Rohl. Having narrowly escaped relegation to League One by just three points last season, despite ending on a five-game unbeaten streak, the team at Hillsborough is eager to see how Rohl’s first full season in charge unfolds.
The potential addition of a familiar player could be beneficial for Sheffield Wednesday. Alex Miller of The Star reports that the club is actively working to secure a deal for forward Ike Ugbo, which could be finalized within the next 48 hours. Ugbo, who was on loan at the club during the latter part of last season, made a strong impression and is set to join permanently this summer.
After a mixed loan period at Cardiff City earlier in the season, Ugbo hit his stride at Sheffield Wednesday and has been labeled “crucial” by manager Danny Rohl.
Regarding the pursuit of Troyes forward Ike Ugbo, Rohl mentioned via The Star: “Currently, he’s not with us, but we are exploring our options. He’s an essential player for us, and we recognize that, but we need to consider our alternatives at this moment.
“We’re aware of the players who made a significant impact for us in the latter part of last season, and that’s evident. We’re moving forward with this in mind, but I can’t guarantee anything right now—it’s a process.”
Ideally, the Canada international would be ready to play in Sheffield Wednesday’s opening match against Plymouth on Sunday, despite the tight timeframe for his possible arrival this week.
