Liam and Noel Gallagher officially announced reunion

Noel and Liam Gallagher spark Oasis reunion frenzy with huge hint

Rumours of an Oasis reunion have gathered pace after warring brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher both shared a cryptic video originally posted by the band’s official X account

Noel and Liam Gallagher have sent Oasis reunion rumours into overdrive after sharing a cryptic video on their X (formerly Twitter) accounts.

The feuding brothers went their separate ways in August 2009 after a backstage row in Paris proved the final straw for songwriter Noel. Confirming Oasis was no more, he said at the time: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

In the years which followed, Liam, who has gone on to have a hugely successful solo career, repeatedly told fans his “bags are packed” and he’s ready to go should his big brother offer an olive branch. Noel, meanwhile, who now plays under the guise of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, regularly tells interviewers he has “no interest” in a reconciliation.

His stance did appear to finally soften on one occasion in 2021, however, when he told Jonathan Ross he’d play with Liam again “for £100 million.”

On Wednesday (May 22), meanwhile, the official Oasis X account posted a video without a caption featuring music and footage of Noel and Liam in 1994 – the year their debut album Definitely Maybe rocketed to the top of the charts.

While Liam often interacts with his fans on the platform on the subject of their old ban, Noel rarely acknowledges his past and instead uses his account simply to promote his latest tours and releases. But now, after retweeting Oasis’ video, fans appear to be more hopeful than ever that a reunion is just around the corner.

“This suspense is absolutely killing me…” one fan penned in response. “Please tell me this is a signal for a reunion!” begged another. “This would be Earth-shattering!”

A third speculated in hope: “I know what this is. Noel probably told Liam, many years ago after the break up, ‘The next time I will play with you will be after [Manchester] City win 4 league titles in a row’. Now, he’s stuck in keeping his word.”

comes after 51-year old Liam said in a now-deleted tweet earlier this week: “If I was to say Oasis was getting back together you wouldn’t believe me it’s like when MCFC get the all clear you’ll still say we cheated we can win either way or can we LG.”

Sceptics believe, however, that Oasis’ recent social media activity is simply down to a potential 30th anniversary reissue of Definitely Maybe, which Liam is touring in full this summer alone. “These two will never be on the same stage again,” a pessimistic fan declared. “People need to let go and realise this.”

A second said: “All this just for rereleased definitely maybe remastered.” And a third agreed: “It’s Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary reissue that’s all. Will be slightly different than the 2014 one I have
