In breaking news reported by Brooklyn Vegan, Dave Sweetapple, bassist for Clash, Eerie, and Sweet Apple, has passed away at the age of 58. Tee Pee Records owner Kenny Sehgal, who learned of the tragic news while attending the Sonic Festival in Portugal, revealed that Sweetapple had died peacefully in his sleep. In tribute, Sehgal projected a photo of Sweetapple on the main stage.

Sehgal’s tribute is echoed by many on social media. Damian Abraham of Fucked shared a heartfelt post, noting, “Dave’s impact on music was immense and too great to be captured by just one band. Besides his work with amazing bands, he also contributed his photography to numerous zines and records.

Roadburn Fest also paid tribute, stating, “Dave Sweetapple left a lasting impression on countless lives and will be greatly missed. He was not only a talented musician but also a mentor, facilitator, and guide, nurturing creativity in many others.

Desertfest NYC also honored Dave Sweetapple in their tribute, stating, “Dave Sweetapple played a crucial role in the launch of Desertfest NYC in 2019. We are deeply shocked and devastated by his sudden passing. He was immensely talented, captivating, and caring, with a wicked sense of humor, touching the lives of many.

Additionally, Sweetapple’s bandmate from Clash and Sweet Apple, J. Mascis, has canceled his Dinosaur Jr. performance at the Outlandia Festival due to a “death in the family.
