Dave Davies is “hopeful” about reuniting The Kinks with his brother, Sir Ray Davies.

The 75-year-old musician has just published a revealing book titled Living on a Thin Line, which includes some unexpected statements, like claiming he was subjected to a sex ban by aliens. In a recent interview promoting the book, Dave expressed optimism about the possibility of he and his older brother overcoming their fraught history and reuniting the legendary rock band.

When asked by The Independent about the chance of a reunion, Dave said, “I hope so! I really do. Ray and I have discussed it – it’s a possibility!”

Regarding their current relationship, he noted, “We get along okay. We talk about football! We’re both lifelong Arsenal fans … So, I’m hopeful about what’s ahead.”

Reflecting on his career, he remarked, “I grew up in the music industry, and it’s crazy. We have to engage with that madness to be inspired by it, even if it drives us nuts. Perhaps the real truth is somewhere within that madness.”

The brothers had a chance to catch up over drinks in December 2020.

In 2018, Dave mentioned that they needed to “sort out a few” issues before they could work together again.

Ray, 78, had announced on national news that The Kinks had returned to the studio after 25 years, but Dave claimed this was misleading, as they had only talked about it and needed to resolve their creative disagreements first.

Dave shared, “I thought, ‘What is Ray going on about now?’”

Despite this, he added, “We’ve been considering working on new Kinks material. I said we shouldn’t go public yet because we need to settle a few things.”

Ray, however, went on TV saying they were working on it, which Dave described as “typical Ray.”

The brothers’ infamous disputes even made their way onto the stage during the vibrant 1960s.

They founded the band in 1963.

In 2015, they performed together for the first time in nearly 20 years when Ray joined Dave on stage in London to perform ‘You Really Got Me’.

The classic line-up of The Kinks also included Mick Avory on drums and the late Pete Quaife on bass.
