Cast Complete for National Tour of A Beautiful Noise, Starring Nick Fradiani
Casting is complete for the North American tour of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, which will launch September 21 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, before going on to play more than 25 cities in its first year.
As previously reported, the company will be led by American Idol winner Nick Fradiani, who will reprise the role of Neil Diamond – Then that he played on Broadway.
Fradiani will be joined by Into the Woods Tony nominee Robert Westenberg as Neil Diamond – Now, Hannah Jewel Kohn as Marcia Murphey, Lisa Reneé Pitts as Doctor, Michael Accardo as Bert Berns/ Kieve Diamond, Tuck Milligan as Fred Weintraub/Tommy O’Rourke, Kate A. Mulligan as Ellie Greenwich/Rose Diamond, and Tiffany Tatreau as Jaye Posner.
Rounding out the company as “The Noise” are Cooper Clack, Chris Marsh Clark, Dale Duko, Deirdre Dunkin, Ginger Hurley, Spencer Donavan Jones, Zoë Maloney Ellen McGihon, Thabitha Moruthane, Tasheim Ramsey Pack, Jeilani Rhone-Collins, and J’Kobe Wallace as well as swings Dennis Dizon, Rene Mirai Guyon, Jer, Zoë Maloney Daniela Rodrigo, and Alec Michael Ryan.
“Some of my most thrilling nights have been while I was on tour, bringing my music to audiences across the world,” said Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Diamond in a statement. “Having A Beautiful Noise go on tour is an honor, and I can’t wait for audiences across North America to experience this show. I hope they enjoy it as much as I have.”
Producer Ken Davenport added, “Neil is one of the best live entertainers the world has ever seen. In his 50-year career, he’s performed for millions of fans around the globe. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to honor his legacy than having A Beautiful Noise touring North America, visiting the same cities where he gave so many people so much joy. I look forward to launching the tour in Providence, Rhode Island, a city that has been in love with Neil’s music for decades and where Neil himself performed almost a dozen times.”
Producer Bob Gaudio stated, “When Neil and I first started talking about making a musical using his music, I knew how daunting that would be. With Jersey Boys, I learned how vital it is to have a first-rate creative team making sure everything weaves together. We have that on A Beautiful Noise—an incisive book that tells Neil’s story honestly, fantastic choreography, one of the best directors on Broadway guiding the entire production, and of course, Neil’s iconic songs. Having the show go on tour is an exciting next step and I look forward to being there on opening night in Providence.”
Written by four-time Oscar nominee Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Two Popes) and featuring a score of Diamond hits, the musical offers a look at an artist’s search for himself and a celebration of the enduring power of his music. The Broadway production was directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer with choreography by Olivier winner Steven Hoggett.
The national tour director is Austin Regan, the tour choreographer is Yasmine Lee, and the tour music director is James Olmstead.
The musical also features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Kevin Adams, sound design by Jessica Paz, hair and wig design by Luc Verschueren, music supervision and arrangements by Sonny Paladino, incidental music and dance arrangements by Brian Usifer, vocal design by AnnMarie Milazzo, and orchestrations by Gaudio, Sonny Paladino, and Brian Usifer.
Jamie Harrison is the illusion consultant, and Kathy Fabian is the properties designer with casting by Jim Carnahan and Jason Thinger. General management is by Madeline McCluskey of Gentry & Associates with production management by Hector Guivas of NETworks Presentations.
The national tour stage management team is led by Stacy N. Taylor with Travis Blackwell and Kali Ashurst, and the company management team is Erik Birkeland and Heather Moss.
A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical played its final performance on Broadway June 30 at the Broadhurst Theatre. The jukebox biomusical, which officially opened December 4, 2022, following previews that began November 2, played a total of 35 previews and 657 regular performances.
The tour is lead produced by Davenport, Gaudio, and NETworks Presentations.
