The Eastern Conference is currently highly competitive. The Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA Champions, are a strong contender, but several other teams could challenge them next season. The Philadelphia 76ers have bolstered their roster with Paul George and other key acquisitions.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have also improved significantly. These three teams are widely considered the frontrunners for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. However, the Orlando Magic should also be in the conversation. They’ve been steadily improving and added a seasoned player like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope this summer, which could be pivotal for their progress.

Paolo Banchero recently spoke on ESPN’s First Take, where he addressed the lack of attention the Magic have been receiving compared to teams like the Celtics, Knicks, and 76ers. The 21-year-old asserted, “We feel like we’re right there with those teams.

Last year, we started strong as a top-three seed and many thought it was a fluke, expecting us to drop to a play-in team. But we finished fifth and almost secured the second seed. We’ve improved this year—I’ve improved, and we have new additions that will make a significant impact.

We’re aiming to be a top-four or top-three team and compete for the Eastern Conference title.” Despite not having a superstar like Paul George, Joel Embiid, or Jayson Tatum, and not being an iconic franchise like the Celtics, Knicks, or 76ers, the Magic’s talent is undeniable, and they could prove to be a formidable opponent for any team.
