Blackburn Rovers set to sign Burnley target from Premier League.

Blackburn Rovers have surprised many with the start of the season they have had this year.

John Eustace’s side were battling relegation for most of last season and it was expected that once again they would be down the bottom this time around.

However, they are currently sitting pretty and it looks as if they are still set to make some improvements to their squad before this Friday’s deadline day.

Travers has had interest from elsewhere this summer. Rivals Burnley and top tier clubs in the likes of RC Strasbourg have been monitoring the situation.

Now, O’Rourke claims despite added interest from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano, it is actually Blackburn Rovers who are nearing the signing of the ‘keeper.

A solid addition

Travers would come into Rovers with a wealth of experience and talent that would defintiely benefit Eustace’s squad.

The 25-year-old is a Republic of Ireland international and during his time at Bournemouth has picked up a few Premier League appearances here and there.

Last season he managed four in the top flight, keeping two clean sheets and he has extensive experience in the Championship as well.

59 second tier games between his time at the Cherries and Stoke City has shown he is more than capable of consistent performing to a good level at this tier of football.

He has kept 22 second tier clean sheets to date and he could now do with playing regular first team football which he likely won’t get much of at Bournemouth.

It can only be a positive for Blackburn Rovers they they’ve beaten their rivals and top tier interest to this signing and now all that’s left is confirmation of the deal.

The season so far

Blackburn Rovers currently sit 3rd. Their opening day win over Derby County was proved not to be a fluke after they went and picked up four points across games against Oxford United and Norwich City.

Eustace’s side can enjoy the start they have had, but they have played two newly-promoted teams and a currently winless Canaries outfit, so it does remain to be seen how good this start actually is.

Consistency will be key for Rovers across what is a long and grueling Championship season, but the early signs are positive for the club and it will be hoped they can have a comfortable campaign in the second tier this time out.

The loss of top scorer and star man Sammie Szmodics doesn’t seem to have bothered them too much and whilst they may notice his absence later down the line, they’ve not seen any immediate detrimental impact.

Up next for the club is a Carabao Cup clash against Blackpool before a big derby outing this weekend away to rivals Burnley.
