North Queensland Cowboys icon could be Super League bound after NRL exit confirmed.

Kyle Feldt

Kyle Feldt, the North Queensland Cowboys’ leading try-scorer of all time, will depart from the NRL team at the end of the season, leading to speculation that he might be heading to the Super League in 2025.

Feldt will conclude his memorable career with the Cowboys, where he broke Matt Bowen’s try record earlier this season. He has been with the club since his debut in 2013.

Feldt admitted it was a difficult decision to make to leave the club, but the manner of his and the Cowboys’ comments upon confirmation of his exit appear to suggest his career will continue in 2025.

That has led to inevitable suggestions that he will be a Super League player next year with a number of clubs in the market for outside backs, and are armed with quota spots.

This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but I feel the time is right, Feldt said.

I have been very fortunate to live out my childhood dream to play NRL for my hometown team for 11 years.

The club has given me the opportunity to stay home where many other professional athletes have had to move away from their family. I’ve made some amazing memories and lifelong friends.

Perhaps most notably, Cowboys General Manager, Micheal Luck, wished Feldt and his family luck ‘for their next adventure’ – hinting that Feldt’s career will continue elsewhere, likely overseas.

This club was formed so North Queenslanders could stay at home to play rugby league at the highest level and Kyle Feldt encapsulates that vision,” Luck said.

He came through our junior systems, became one of the major contributors in our first premiership and finishes as a Life Member and the club’s greatest ever try-scorer.

We wish Kyle, Deanna and their young family the best of luck for their next adventure.”

The likes of St Helens and Leigh Leopards are just two clubs who are on the hunt for an outside back – and are shopping in the overseas market to find one.

It remains to be seen whether Feldt has been convinced to come to Super League: but his career appears to be continuing away from the Cowboys in 2025.
