Brisbane Roar farewell their longest-serving Liberty A-League player…

Brisbane Roar have confirmed midfielder Hollie Palmer has left the Liberty A-League club, bringing an end to her six-year association with the Queensland side.

Making her debut in the 2017-18 season, Palmer went on to play 73 matches for the Roar whilst scoring four goals after breaking into the first-team set-up aged just 16.

Despite moving to Melbourne City for the 2020-21 season, Palmer then returned the following year under former head coach Garrath McPherson and leaves Brisbane ranked eighth on their all-time appearance list.

Thank you to everyone at the club and the fans for supporting me along my journey so far,” said Palmer after news of her release was confirmed.

It’s time for me to move on, but I wish the team all the best for the season ahead.

Palmer was a regular in the Brisbane Roar side which finished ninth last season, making 20 appearances, 15 of which were starts.

The 23-year-old is the latest high-profile exit following last week’s departure of club captain Ayesha Norrie, who brought about an end to her three-year spell in Orange.

However, Roar fans have plenty to look forward to when it comes to the upcoming season following a series of high-profile announcements made by the club.

Among those is six-time Bulgarian footballer of the year Evdokia Popadinova, who joins the Roar direct from Italian giants Lazio having recently helped them secure promotion to Serie A.

Joining Popadinova amongst the roar ranks this season is former Sydney FC midfielder and Championship winner Zara Kruger who has signed on ahead of the new campaign while former Borussia Dortmund striker and Singapore international Danelle Tan has also penned a one-year deal.

Meanwhile, winger Sharn Freier has also pledged her future to the club following an impressive breakout season in 2023-24 which ultimately saw her represent the CommBank Matildas at the 2024 Paris Olympic games while goalkeeper Keeley Richards has also re-signed.
