Once a key striker for Sheffield Wednesday, Michael Smith has recently fallen down the Owls’ hierarchy. Under Darren Moore, during Wednesday’s successful promotion to the Championship, the former Rotherham United player scored 17 goals in 42 appearances. However, last season, the tall center-forward could only manage to net a modest four goals.

In January, there were efforts to transfer him out, but a move to reunite with his former Millers manager, Paul Warne, at Derby County didn’t materialize. Now, his future at Hillsborough remains uncertain this off-season.

Additionally, it has been clear that the South Yorkshire team is looking to bring in new strikers, with one potential deal currently being discussed.

According to a recent report from AfricaFoot, Sheffield Wednesday is eager to secure Las Palmas striker Sory Kaba during this transfer window, with a loan-to-buy arrangement initially being the preferred option for everyone involved.

However, football journalist Darren Witcoop has revealed that an unnamed Championship club has now made a £1.3 million offer to the Spanish side in an attempt to persuade Kaba to join them.

This unidentified Championship team might be Danny Rohl’s club, which is keen to strengthen its center-forward positions. They have struggled to secure a permanent deal for Ike Ugbo thus far.

Football journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Troyes, Ike Ugbo’s current club, is demanding a hefty £4.5 million for the former Chelsea youth player. As a result, Kaba might offer a more affordable and potentially more effective option in the long term.
