Oasis continues to be on hiatus, as always, following an update from Noel Gallagher at the Y Not Festival in the U.K., which was greeted with boos from the audience. When inquired about a potential Oasis reunion, Noel once again confirmed that it will never occur.
During a performance with his band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, a fan inquired about a potential Oasis reunion. Although Oasis experienced numerous ups and downs throughout their tumultuous career, Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher notably disbanded the group before a 2009 performance. Since then, the brothers have had limited communication, despite Liam’s ongoing attempts to reunite the band, which include waiting for an apology from his older brother.
In response to the fan’s question, Noel Gallagher stated, “When are we going to see you? In 2025 or 2026? The answer is neither,” according to a report from Music News. The audience reacted with boos and jeers, but Noel remained unfazed, remarking, “I’ll take the fact that you’re booing as a compliment!”
Despite the initial reaction, Noel engaged with the crowd and used the moment to his advantage. He addressed the fans, saying, “Right, we’re all Oasis fans, right? Buckle up.” He then treated the audience to a performance of “Going Nowhere,” an Oasis B-Side from 1997. The crowd responded with enthusiasm, demonstrating that Oasis still holds significant appeal.
Liam Gallagher continues to hold out hope that his older brother Noel might attend his solo concerts, despite their well-known feud that has lasted for at least 15 years. Liam, who is currently on his Definitely Maybe Tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the classic Oasis album, recently took to Twitter to express that he still keeps a seat reserved for Noel at his shows, hoping that he might make an appearance.
When a fan asked on Twitter if it’s true that Liam saves a seat for Noel at every show, Liam responded, “Yes, you never know.”
Liam seems open to the idea of an Oasis reunion, as he reportedly offered Noel a spot on his Definitely Maybe Tour before it began. Instead of reaching out to Noel personally, he had his team contact Noel’s team, but the response was a firm “no.”
Liam has previously stated that the responsibility for reuniting Oasis lies with Noel. “Noel is the one who split the band up, so he’ll be doing the calling,” Liam has said. “If there is no calling, we won’t be getting back together.” Despite his apparent desire to reconcile with his brother, Liam Gallagher’s approach to making it happen is certainly unconventional.
